Afro Fashion Week Milan

Afro Fashion Week Milano (AFWM) is our flagship annual event, bringing the global Afro Fashion Week format to one of the most visible fashion capitals of the world through both haute and street couture. Our fashion shows during Afro Fashion Week present leading and emerging collections by African and Afro-inspired creators, showcasing the diversity of styles and expression across contemporary Afro design, celebrating their creators, and encouraging investment in African and African-descended creative businesses.

We also host Afro Fashion workshops, exhibitions, and social events, involving photographers, bloggers and influencers to help spread the message about an Africa that defies the stereotypes of the continent too many have been taught growing up. AFWM seeks to remind participants that Afro fashion is not a trend but a gateway to engagement and cross-cultural exchange.

September 2023

Our most ambitious edition yet! We explored the future of fashion with our ¡GloLoCo! exhibition at Milan’s iconic Palazzo Morando, produced in collaboration with Red-Eye Metazine, where we also held hands-on workshops, horizon-expanding talks, and a star-studded opening event. Afro Fashion’s Maxivive stole the show at Palazzo Reale with his latest collection, seamlessly blending his Nigerian origins with signature London streetstyle and challenging assumptions of what African fashion looks like. A fundraising gala for the upcoming Black Carpet Awards and a sizzling showcase with MODES Milano closed out an incredible week.

Plus, for the first time ever at Milan Fashion Week, we invited the public to remix this edition’s featured collections with GN3RA and try on their favourite looks in augmented reality try-ons in collaboration with SPIN.
